SUMMARY:Trauma-Informed YTT: Intersectional Yoga Teaching (Fall 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training \nIntersectional Yoga Teaching | 9 Hours – VIRTUAL with Ro Grace \nIn this module\, join yoga teacher and cultural competency specialist Ro Grace (E-RYT 500) in exploring intersectionality: a framework to understand how aspects of a person’s social and political identities combine to create different lived experiences. No matter our individual backgrounds\, we’ve all been negatively impacted by white supremacy culture\, capitalism\, and hetero-patriarchy. To dismantle this harmful culture and the trauma at the heart of its design\, we’ll learn the process of how to decouple our healing from oppressive institutions and teach yoga in an intersectional way. Through lecture\, discussion\, and somatic exercises\, you will: \n\nGo back in time to fetch the true intentions of the ancient healing practice of yoga and carry it forth\, bringing along your own personal ancestral practices. \nGain a better understanding of how modern yoga often functions as a tool of oppression (rather than healing)\, and the ways in which we each play a part in this paradigm. \nBe empowered to create more inclusive spaces of healing in your own classrooms. This module includes lecture and group discussion\, as well as somatic exercises geared toward self-inquiry and ancestral healing.\n\nThis module can be taken as part of the 40-Hour Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training. Our expert-led\, Yoga Alliance-approved teacher training is a comprehensive educational experience designed to teach you how trauma expresses itself in the mind and body and shows up in the yoga room. Grounded in social theory\, modern neuroscience\, and yoga philosophy\, you will learn teaching methods to skillfully address the impact of trauma on the body and mind\, and trauma-informed movement\, contemplative\, and community experiences. \nSchedule:  \nSaturday\, September 26th\, 2026 – 9:00am-12:00pm \nSaturday\, October 3rd\, 2026 – 9:00am-12:00pm \nSaturday\, October 10th\, 2026 – 9:00am-12:00pm \nThis training is VIRTUAL \nPrice: $240 \nPlease Note:\nThe cost for the complete 40-hour program is $990. 300-hour trainees can enroll with their Folk Yoga School membership. Folk members & alumni receive 25% off of the full price. Modules for this program are offered twice a year; you will have a full year to complete all modules for the certificate. Each module can be taken once. \nThe Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training provides 40 elective hours in Folk’s 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training\, or 40 Yoga Alliance CECs if you are already a registered yoga teacher. \nGain unlimited access to all Folk trainings\, workshops\, and classes with our Yoga School All-Access Membership! To learn more\, schedule a call with our Folk Yoga School Advisor. \nScholarship:\nBIPOC & people of non-dominant identities may apply for a scholarship for this training.

SUMMARY:The Yoga of Sweetness: Philosophy in Action
DESCRIPTION:The Yoga of Sweetness: Philosophy in Action\nMyth and Metaphysics for a Wise and Complete Practice \nJoin Folk Yoga School’s Director of Education\, Joey Gottlieb\, for a deep dive into some of yoga’s lesser known philosophies and stories to investigate new sources of inspiration and wisdom within the yoga tradition. \nClassical yoga philosophy describes a path for ending suffering and finding liberation from life’s trials. However\, later schools of yoga began to question the idea that life could be anything but suffering. Instead\, they turned towards finding the sweetness and freedom within life itself. Over the course of this experiential immersion we’ll explore the complex but elegant system of the tattvas. These 36 qualities or principles create a “map” of our world and human experience\, both subtle and physical. The tattvas\, as well as the myths and stories behind it\, show us how freedom in yoga can become a practice of sweetening our human lives\, even with their trials. This workshop will be both lecture and practice-based\, using movement\, breath\, and meditation to bring these teachings into our bodies. During this 15-hour workshop\, you’ll: \n\nExperience themed practices to create an embodied connection between philosophy and physicality.\nUnderstand key differences between yoga’s older philosophies and its newer ones and identify ways in which yoga is continuously evolving.\nTake a deep dive into the tattvas and deepen your understanding of the yoga “cosmos\,” which is essential to understanding how yoga works as a whole!\nLearn myths within the Hindu yoga tradition to add meaningful narratives to philosophy and enrich your personal practice in a culturally honoring way.\nFor teachers\, walk away with rich philosophical material to apply to your own teachings and theme inspiring and insightful classes.\n\n  \nThis workshop is open to the public and to teachers. Current Folk Yoga 300-Hour trainees may take this for elective credits. This training counts for 15 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Units. \nDates: \nFri.\, October 23\, 2026 | 6:00-9:00pm\nSat.\, October 24\, 2026 | 12:00PM – 5:30PM\nSun.\, October 25\, 2026 | 12:00PM – 5:30PM \nPrice: \n$405 | Early bird price: $355 (before October 3\, 2026) using discount code SWEETNESS
