Tell us about yourself! What are some things that your students might not know?

Off the mat, I have been referred to as a “Curly ball of Chaos”, and gladly accept the title. I have lived in 4 different states and 1 RV: California 4 different times (SF 2x), Louisiana (also 4 different times), Montana, and Alabama. I love roller skating and making good cocktails. I am constantly troubled with thinking eggs look delicious but can never actually eat one because I think they’re disgusting.

How did you become interested in yoga?

An at-home dance DVD that quickly became utilized solely for the amazing yoga warm up! This established my personal practice at 16 years old. Then, I tried a Bikram class and that’s when I was hooked. I had never experienced that amount of sweat, and loved the discipline it brought me. That’s when I knew yoga and I would have a long life together.

Tell us about your yoga journey. What style did you start in and with whom do you study now?

I started with Vinyasa and Bikram in my personal practice, then pivoted to Power Yoga and haven’t looked back. I will go back to Bikram classes every so often, in the way that one goes home for the holidays, but the studio changes regularly. I try to unroll my mat in every flavor of yoga space so I can sample it all, but my current inspirations would be Carrie Brackin, Amber Henzi, Bonnie Weeks, and Steve23.

Describe your teaching style. What can folks expect when they attend your class?

Currently, I teach Power Yoga. Every time we meet on the mat you can be sure you will get a little sweaty, hear kick-ass playlists, and gain new reasons to love this practice. My classroom is a space to find your edge, an opportunity to remember where your feet are, and a time to strengthen the relationship between the mover and the thinker. I choose to connect in this way because everyone deserves to intimately know how strong they are, especially when they don’t feel like it.

Any exciting projects or plans on the horizon?

I’ll finally have a new passport by the end of the year, after putting it off for way to long and I’m not sure the world is ready.

Anything else you’d like to share with the Yoga Garden SF community?

After so many moves, I don’t know how to answer the question “Where are you from?”. Basically I’m California girl from New Orleans who can’t sit still.
