Sunday Streets in the ‘hood

people cycling on San Francisco EmbarcaderoSunday Streets is coming to the North Panhandle. That’s right, the citywide celebration will be coming to our neighborhood on Sunday, September 19th. You can check the route map here: http://sundaystreetssf.com/ This will be the first time Sunday Streets has gone through a residential neighborhood. It will be a great time.

Join Yoga Garden SF instructors for free yoga classes this Sunday starting at 11:00 am through 2 pm, in the Panhandle between Lyon and Central.

Expect a morning and afternoon full of friendly, safe walking, biking, and playing in the streets for kids and adults. Plan for picnics, garage sales, music in the streets, bike rodeos for kids, outdoor eating at restaurants and cafes. Thousands of San Franciscans will visit our neighborhood. NOPNA and local website BIKE NOPA (ibikenopa.blogspot.com) have created a WELCOME TO THE NORTH PANHANDLE poster for neighbors along the route to post in their windows. These will be distributed door-to-door and available at the next NOPNA general meeting on September 16th.

Sunday Streets will bring inconvenience to those neighbors along the route who normally park on the street. All vehicles parked along the route must be removed by 11pm SATURDAY September 18th through 3 pm Sunday September 19th. These hours are determined by SFPD not Sunday Streets or NOPNA. BIKE NOPA and Sunday Streets have contacted owners of nearby parking lots and have secured nearly 200 free parking spaces located nearby for residents who must move their vehicles during this time. These spaces WILL REQUIRE A PARKING PASS. Information fliers will be distributed door-to-door along the route on Sept 11th and Sept 12th. These flyers will have all the information needed about how to get a parking pass. We also ask that residents off the route use their garages, if possible, on these days to open parking spaces to their neighbors.

We hope everyone will enjoy this first-time-ever occasion to enjoy our streets in a new way. See you on September 19th!
