Trauma-Informed YTT: Trauma, Somatics, and Psychology (Fall 2026)

November 2 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Trauma, Somatics, and Psychology with Marissa Nasca

In this five-hour module, you will explore the interconnected relationship between trauma, somatics, and psychology, gaining a deeper understanding of how traumatic experiences are held in both the mind and body. You will examine the physiological, emotional, and cognitive impacts of trauma, as well as the role of embodied awareness in supporting regulation, resilience, and healing. In a brave and supportive learning environment, you’ll learn how somatic approaches can complement psychological frameworks to foster greater self-awareness, connection, and well-being. This module includes guided reflection, mindfulness practices, experiential exercises, somatic movement, and practical tools for integrating trauma-informed, body-centered perspectives into your teaching and professional practice.

This module can be taken as part of the 40-Hour Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training. Our expert-led, Yoga Alliance-approved teacher training is a comprehensive educational experience designed to teach you how trauma expresses itself in the mind and body and shows up in the yoga room. Grounded in social theory, modern neuroscience, and yoga philosophy, you will learn teaching methods to skillfully address the impact of trauma on the body and mind, and trauma-informed movement, contemplative, and community experiences.

This module can be taken only as part of the complete Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training. The Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training provides 40 elective contact hours in Folk’s 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training, or 40 CEUs if you are already a registered yoga teacher.
