Spring doesn’t announce itself โ it just arrives. Warmer light through the studio windows, a little more ease in the body, a pull toward something new.
We’ve been feeling it too.
April is a significant month at Folk. We’re introducing new classes, clarifying a few names you already know, and opening the doors to some experiences we’ve been quietly building toward. Whether you’ve been practicing with us for years or you’re still figuring out if Folk is the right fit โ this is a good month to take a look.
Here’s what’s new.
Pilates Has Found a Home at Folk Yoga
We’ve always been thoughtful about what we add to our schedule. Pilates felt like a natural next chapter โ precise, demanding, and deeply complementary to a yoga practice.
Starting this month, Pilates is available across all three studios: NOPA, Mission, and Richmond. We’re offering three formats depending on where you are and what you’re looking for:
Pilates โ The foundation. Core-driven, controlled, and quietly transformative. If you’re new to Pilates or want to understand the method properly, start here.
Pilates Sculpt โ Strength meets length. This one blends Pilates principles with sculpting work. Expect to feel it the next day.
Pilates HIIT โ For the days you want to push. Higher intensity, faster pace, still grounded in Pilates principles.
Whether you’re cross-training, rebuilding strength, or just curious โ this is your moment to try something that might surprise you.

Two Familiar Classes, Renamed
Sometimes a name change is the whole story.
We’ve renamed two classes not because anything about them has changed โ but because the old names weren’t doing justice to what actually happens in the room.
Yoga Align is now Hatha Yoga. Methodical, grounded, alignment-led. The name now says what it is, and if you’ve never tried it because “Align” didn’t quite land for you, maybe “Hatha” will.
Flow Lab is now Yoga Lab โ and it’s Ashtanga-based. A dedicated space to move through sequence, build familiarity, and let the practice deepen over time. The Ashtanga lineage gives this class its backbone: repetition, breath, and a structure you can grow inside of.
Same teachers. Same feel. Clearer intention.
Flow with Flowers: Yoga + Ikebana Workshop
This one is unlike anything we’ve offered before.
Susie Lee is leading a workshop at our Richmond studio that pairs yoga with Ikebana โ the Japanese art of floral arrangement. You’ll move through a grounding yoga practice, then slow down and create something with your hands. It’s an afternoon designed to quiet the noise, connect body and mind, and make something beautiful.
If you’ve been looking for a reason to try something outside your usual class, this is it.

200hr Yoga Teacher Training โ Spring and Summer Cycles
Our 200-hour YTT isn’t just for people who want to teach.
It’s for anyone ready to understand the practice from the inside out โ its history, its philosophy, its mechanics. The students who get the most from this training are often the ones who come in saying “I’m not sure I want to teach, I just want to go deeper.” That’s exactly the right instinct.
This year we’re running two full-time immersion cycles:
- Spring Cycle โ April 28 to May 24
- Summer Cycle โJuly y to August 2
Small cohort. Real depth. A community that tends to stay with each other long after the training ends.

Already Certified? The 300hr Advanced YTT Is Open
The 300-hour is for teachers who have been in the room a while and are ready to refine.
Sequencing, philosophy, adjustments, presence โ this is the training that sharpens what you already have. It’s not about adding more to your toolkit. It’s about understanding what you’re already doing well enough to teach it with real authority.
If you’ve completed your 200hr and you’re curious, the best next step is a conversation.
๐ผ April Is a Good Time to Begin
New classes. A few clarified names. Workshops designed to go somewhere unexpected. Two paths into teacher training if you’re ready.
Whether you’ve been practicing with us for years or you’re still figuring out if Folk is the right fit โ there’s something here for you this month.
We’ll see you on the mat.
