About Jodi Komitor, MA, E-RYT 500, RCYT:
Jodi Komitor received the gift of Yoga from her parents while in her teens. With a long-held interest in teaching, she earned a Bachelors degree in Special Education from New York University, and a Masters in Learning Disabilities from Teachers College, Columbia University. Jodi spent six years in the elementary classroom, teaching children with special needs.
In 1998 in New York City, Jodi founded Next Generation Yoga, the first children’s yoga studio in the world!
Jodi’s warm-hearted, playful style of teaching is inspired both by her personal yoga interests and practical experiences in the field of education. Jodi trains and certifies children’s yoga instructors all over the world in NGY Teacher Trainings™. Jodi and international NGY Teachers teach Creative Kids Yoga™ in schools, yoga studios, after school programs and hospitals. Jodi serves as a business coach to kids yoga teachers, as well as an in-service provider for schools and therapy centers.
Jodi B Komitor is the leading authority on yoga for kids and the author of the best-selling book The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Yoga with Kids, (Macmillan 2000). She is the creator of Activity TV Yoga, Whale Yoga & the newly released Gaiam DVD’s: Outer Space Blastoff and Dino-mite Adventure.
Jodi’s children’s yoga certifications include Yoga for the Special Child™, YogaKids™ and the Radiant Child Yoga Program™. Jodi is Registered with the Yoga Alliance for completion of adult yoga certification with the American Yoga Academy and the Chopra Center: Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga. Furthering her education, Jodi continually seeks new classes and teachers to enhance her teachings; however, she claims that children are her best teachers.
