Teens Yoga Teacher Training with Alexandra Rossi, E-RYT 500 

Want to bring the benefits of yoga to the next generation? Teach yoga to teens! At Folk Yoga School, we offer a two-part training called Young Folk, in which you can study and train to be a yoga teacher for young folks! The Teens Yoga Teacher Training is for parents, yoga teachers, school teachers, or educators working with youth 12-18 years old. Lighting the torch of yoga in the hearts of the next generation is a powerful way to help shape our world!

The Teens Yoga Teacher Training was built on the philosophy that teenagers learn best when offered a safe space to speak their truth and find their quiet center in both body and mind. The program focuses on supporting the development of mindfulness in teens, learning the neuroscience of adolescent development, exploring best practices for communicating with teens, and bringing yoga to teens in an exciting, empowering, and accessible way. 

In this training, you will learn how to:

  • How to teach yoga to teens in an engaging way, with proper modifications
  • How to engage teens in a mindfulness practice 
  • How to work with teens in different stages of mental and emotional development 
  • How to support teens in reducing anxiety, dealing with peer pressure, and developing empathy and self confidence
  • How to understand and talk about adolescent anatomy and physiology
  • How to teach to neurodiverse teens, as well as at-risk youth and teens with a trauma history

 

This training consists of lecture, personal practice, and teaching practice. Participants will explore a personal meditation practice while in training to develop the ability to authentically share yoga and mindfulness with youth. For registered yoga teachers (200 RYT or above), you must take both this course and the Kids Yoga Teacher Training to receive Yoga Alliance’s Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT) Certification. This course provides 45 Elective Contact Hours for our Folk 300-Hour Teacher Training Program, or 45 Yoga Alliance® CEUs.

This event is virtual and in-person at the NOPA studio. This course provides 45 contact hours toward Folk’s 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification with Yoga Alliance, or 45 CEUs.
