NEW! Join Our Community Classes

Free for members & $5 drop-in for non-members

In order to support our growing alumni community, YGSF is offering community classes to give our teacher training graduates a chance to practice their skills in their home studio.

These classes will be offered every Sunday from 3:30 to 4:40 starting May 31st. These classes will be taught by alumni our 200, 300 and mentorship program, therefore styles of classes will vary with each teacher.

New students are welcome. Proceeds from the class will be used for merit-based financial assistance for our yoga school students.

Interested in teaching a community class?

Graduates of YGSF200 Basic Yoga Teacher Training, students currently enrolled in YGSF500 Advanced Yoga Teacher Training and students undergoing a mentorship with one of YGSF staff are eligible to teach these classes (Participating Teacher Trainees).

Teachers are not paid to teach these classes.  The purpose of the Community Class is to provide new teachers the opportunity to gain valuable experience as teachers and yoga professionals.

Classes will be listed and marketed with regularly-scheduled yoga classes as “Community Class: YGSF Alumni.” Participating Teacher Trainees are expected to assist in this process to help develop their professional marketing skills .

Participating Teacher Trainees are required to carry professional liability insurance. You do not need to be registered with Yoga Alliance in order to teach a community class at YGSF, but you do need to have successfully graduated from a an RYS 200 Hour Teacher Training program.

When your application to teach a class or classes has been accepted and you have been scheduled to teach, you are responsible for that (those) class(es). At that time, you will also be added to the list of available substitutes for the Community Class. If you cannot fulfill your commitment, it is your responsibility to fill that class with others on the list of substitutes.

If a class does not run because there is no teacher, you will be charged a $100 no-show fee. This is the same policy that we apply to our regularly-scheduled yoga instructors, and we do not make any exceptions to the policy. We recommend that you take advantage of any substitution opportunities to support each other and develop a communal relationship with your colleagues.

All information on your student profile in MindBody Online at YGSF must be current.
