MELYLAH BOTTé  SMITH

RYT 500, E-RYT 200 | R-PYT | Teacher Trainer | Teacher

Melylah (she/her) is a homeschooling mama of three, a birth and wellness advocate, and a student of yoga, who has been sharing the empowering practice of prenatal yoga since 2008.

She completed her first yoga teacher training with Larry Schultz of It’s Yoga in 2007, and did her prenatal training with Mama Tree in 2008. Her teaching style encourages participants to tap into their inner teacher, ancestral wisdom, and listen to their bodies and breath, allowing the practice to meet them exactly where they are, at that moment.

Melylah was birthed onto the path of perinatal wellness and healing through her own (home) birth and the births of her three children. Her passion for equitable maternal and infant health led Melylah to train as a doula through Mama Glow, and to participate in the Prenatal Yoga Project, offering free prenatal classes to those who have been historically ignored by the wellness industry. She also facilitates discussions regarding the Black maternal health crisis in prenatal yoga teacher trainings.

Yoga found Melylah in 1999 when she moved from New York City (Lenape territory) to San Francisco (Ramaytush Ohlone territory), where she embarked on the transformational journey of pregnancy, birthing, and mothering. As she dove deeper into her yoga practice, she ultimately left the fast-paced advertising world behind. She now dedicates herself to sharing the healing practices of yoga with birthing folx and their families, as well as train those who are answering their calling to support women’s wellness through yoga. Melylah also holds certifications in Children’s Yoga, Infant Massage and Bonding Education, and Aromatherapy. She is forever grateful for her teachers, and all those who have birthed before her, alongside her, and after her.
