This module focuses on studying Yoga and Buddhist philosophy, and how to use these teachings to develop a deeper understanding of how to live consciously and with purpose. Darren Main will take you on a journey of self-discovery, unveiling the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, so you can integrate them into your personal yoga practice and life. From understanding the complexities of dharma and the art of living consciously to exploring the nature of the self and the path to liberation, this part of the training will provide you with a rich and comprehensive understanding of the Bhagavad Gita’s profound teachings.
Karen Macklin will guide you through the origins and practice of mindfulness, as expressed in the Buddha’s Eightfold Path and Foundations of Mindfulness, and explore what it means to live a life that honors ethical responsibility and self-awareness in the name of personal growth, global peace, and spiritual freedom. You’ll also explore some of these teachings in connection with the Yoga Sutra. Topics covered in this two-part course include exploration of one’s inner purpose, appropriate livelihood and mindful speech, social justice, working with trauma, developing compassionate relationships, and acting from a place of discernment and love in our practices and lives.
The course includes reading, journaling, discussion, meditation, asana, and practice teaching. The course is part online (with Karen Macklin), and part in-person (with Darren Main). You must be able to attend the whole course for credit.
